When planning a weekend in Wrocław, it is worth opting for a well-thought-out walking route. The ideal base for such a plan is The Cyrus Hotel at 16 Rzeźnicza Street. This intimate boutique hotel in central Wrocław is located right by the Market Square, making it possible to explore the entire Old Town on foot.

Below is a ready-made, 2-day itinerary for Wrocław – from afternoon check-in to the city's most popular attractions and more.

Day 1: Arrival, an afternoon walk and an atmospheric evening

1. The Cyrus Hotel Stare Jatki (150 metres)

The route begins just after crossing the hotel threshold. Take just a few steps to reach Stare Jatki Street.

  • About the place: This is one of the most charming and authentic corners of the Old Town. Butchers' stalls have stood here since the 14th century, while the distinctive wooden buildings with pitched roofs have retained their original layout to this day.
  • What to see: Today, Jatki is an oasis for artists, with intimate art galleries, sculpture studios and handicraft shops. Be sure to look out for the Monument to the Slaughtered Animals – a collection of brass sculptures depicting, among others, a pig, goat, rooster and rabbit.

2. Stare Jatki Wrocławski Market Square and Town Hall (200 metres, approx. 2–3 minutes on foot)

From Jatki, the route leads directly to Wrocław's Market Square – one of the largest market squares in Europe, measuring 213 by 178 metres.

  • About the place: Wrocław Market Square is the heart of the city, surrounded by more than 60 intricately restored townhouses representing styles ranging from Gothic to Art Nouveau.
  • What to see:

· Old Town Hall: A true European-scale gem of secular Gothic architecture, featuring an astronomical clock.

· The “Jaś” and “Małgosia” Townhouses: Two charming townhouses connected by a Baroque gate at the corner of the Market Square.

· Wrocław's Dwarfs: During an afternoon walk around the Market Square, keep an eye out for the first brass dwarf figures.

3. Market Square Four Denominations District (350 metres from the Market Square, approx. 4 minutes)

Via St. Nicholas Street or St. Anthony Street, the route leads to the Four Denominations District, also known as the District of Mutual Respect.

  • About the place: This is a unique urban quarter where, within an area of several hundred metres, Catholic, Orthodox and Evangelical churches and a synagogue have stood alongside one another and cooperated for centuries.
  • What to see: The Orthodox cathedral, St. Anthony of Padua Church, the Church of Divine Providence and the Neoclassical Synagogue Under the White Stork. The courtyards in this district are filled with independent cafés and art galleries.

4. Four Denominations District Wrocław University (approx. 800 metres, 12 minutes on foot)

The walk heads north towards the Oder, leading to the monumental Main Building of the University of Wrocław.

  • About the place: A former Baroque Jesuit college dating from 1702, extending along the riverbank for more than 160 metres.
  • What to see: Aula Leopoldina, the most representative Baroque hall in Poland, and the Mathematical Tower – a viewing point offering a wonderful panorama of the Old Town and river in the afternoon light.

5. University of Wrocław Ostrów Tumski at Dusk (approx. 1 km along the Oder, 15 minutes)

Passing the historic Market Hall, built in 1908, and crossing the pale-green Tumski Bridge, you reach the oldest part of the city.

  • About the place: Ostrów Tumski is the cradle of Wrocław, dating back to the 10th century. An extraordinary, contemplative atmosphere prevails here.
  • What to see: St. John the Baptist's Archcathedral and the Wrocław Lamplighter, who emerges onto the streets at dusk wearing a cape and top hat to light the gas lamps by hand.

Evening: Return, sauna and an exquisite dinner at The Cyrus Hotel

After an afternoon full of experiences, the walk back to the hotel takes just 20 minutes.

  • Relaxation in the sauna: After several kilometres of walking in the fresh air, it is worth using the hotel's intimate relaxation area, where a sauna session will relax your muscles and allow you to fully recharge.
  • Dinner at the hotel restaurant: Round off the evening with a meal at the hotel restaurant. The dishes served on site combine modern European cuisine with local accents, allowing you to spend the evening in an elegant atmosphere without having to search for an available table in the city.

Day 2: Breakfast, Art, Nature and the Centennial Hall Complex

Morning: An exquisite breakfast at The Cyrus Hotel

The second day of the trip is the time to make the most of your stay. Begin your morning at The Cyrus Hotel with a delicious, nutritious breakfast served as an extensive buffet alongside hot dishes prepared to order. Freshly brewed coffee, crusty bread, local cheeses and cold cuts, as well as fruit, provide the perfect energy boost for a full day of sightseeing.

1. Start: The Cyrus Hotel Dunikowski Boulevard and the Racławice Panorama (1.4 km, approx. 18 minutes on foot)

After breakfast, the route begins with a walk along the Oder via Xawery Dunikowski Boulevard towards the Racławice Panorama rotunda.

  • About the place: The Racławice Panorama is a monumental painting measuring 15 x 114 metres, depicting the Battle of Racławice from 1794. The special arrangement of the area in front of the painting creates an extraordinary 360-degree three-dimensional effect.
  • The National Museum in Wrocław, with its rich collection of Silesian and European art, is located directly next door.

2. Journey: Racławice Panorama Centennial Hall Complex (approx. 10 minutes by tram)

From the Racławice Panorama, it is a short walk to the stop at Powstańców Warszawy Square, from where a direct tram takes passengers right to Centennial Hall.

3. Centennial Hall Complex, Pergola and Japanese Garden (on site)

  • About the place: Centennial Hall is a gem of modernist reinforced-concrete architecture dating from 1913, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
  • What to see:

· Wrocław Multimedia Fountain and Pergola: Water shows accompanied by music.

· Japanese Garden: A picturesque garden in Szczytnicki Park, featuring water cascades, a tea house and oriental vegetation.

4. Centennial Hall ZOO and Afrykarium (across the street, 2 minutes)

Wrocław's ZOO with its iconic Afrykarium is located right next to Centennial Hall – the only oceanarium in the world dedicated exclusively to African fauna. Walking through the 18-metre transparent underwater tunnel among sharks and rays is the perfect culmination of the second day.
